Subtitle craft,
built in.

Generic AI recognizes words. Professional subtitling also requires the right timing, reading speed, segmentation, line breaks and terminology. Undertitle applies that craft alongside your tone and editorial rules.

Every delivery is checked against these rules. The result is recorded in the quality report.

Questions,
answered.

The practical details your editorial and production teams usually want to know before a demo.

Ask us in a demo
01

What does Undertitle do?

Undertitle turns shows and films into professionally timed subtitles in more than 20 languages. It combines transcription, translation, timing and professional quality checks before sending the subtitles to your team for final review.

02

Is Undertitle a transcription or captioning tool?

No. It is built for professional subtitling, with rules for reading speed, timing, line breaks, segmentation and terminology.

03

How does Undertitle handle Flemish dialects?

Watte V2 is our own local language model for Flemish dialect transcription. In our comparison, it understands dialect 31.3% better than Whisper, giving editors a more accurate source transcript to start from.

04

Can the subtitles be published without review?

Every delivery still goes through final editorial review. Undertitle prepares the subtitles and shows editors where their attention is needed. Your team decides what gets approved.

05

What does the editor receive?

Editors review subtitles with the picture and across the complete timeline. They also receive the subtitle files, a detailed quality report, flagged exceptions and an overall confidence score.

06

What does the quality report check?

The report checks the subtitles against the agreed standards for reading speed, timing, line breaks, segmentation and terminology. Any exceptions that may need editorial judgement are clearly marked.

07

What does the confidence score mean?

The overall confidence score gives editors a quick indication of the delivery’s quality. They can then use the detailed report to find the subtitles or standards that need a closer look.

08

Can Undertitle follow our editorial rules?

Yes. Undertitle can apply your rules for terminology, tone and editorial exceptions alongside professional subtitling standards.

09

Does Undertitle replace subtitle editors?

No. Editors remain responsible for final review and approval. Undertitle takes care of the preparation work, including transcription, translation, timing and quality control. This can sharply reduce editorial handling in a live production workflow.

10

Which languages and export formats does Undertitle support?

Undertitle delivers subtitles in more than 20 languages. Available source and target language combinations depend on your workflow. Export formats include SRT, VTT, WebVTT, EBU STL, PAC, TTML, ASS and SSA. We confirm the exact language combination and required export format during the demo.

11

How much time and cost can Undertitle save?

A live production workflow measured 82% less handling time and 80% lower subtitle cost. These figures describe that specific workflow and are not a guarantee for every production.

12

How does Undertitle fit into our existing workflow?

Undertitle is built for broadcasters, streamers, distributors and localization teams. Its API can connect to MEDIAGENIX, OOONA and other professional media workflow tools, depending on your environment. Teams can also use Undertitle’s own interface to upload material, access completed deliveries and download subtitle files and quality reports.

13

How does Undertitle pricing work?

Pricing is based on a flat rate per minute of source content. That rate covers transcription, translation, timing, quality checks, the subtitle files and the quality report. For ongoing volumes or workflow integrations, we agree the setup in advance.
